Privacy Policy

Meadows and Wings Publishing

Last Updated: October 24, 2026

Meadows and Wings Publishing respects your privacy and protects the personal information you provide.

This Privacy Policy explains how Meadows and Wings Publishing collects, uses, and handles information when you visit our website. It also explains which information Wix.com Ltd. processes for us and which information Wix processes independently for its own purposes. It applies to visitors in Canada and elsewhere, subject to the laws that apply where they live.

The legal obligations and rights described in this policy apply only when the relevant law covers Meadows and Wings Publishing, the processing involved, and the circumstances at issue. Whether a law applies may depend on factors such as your location, our activities, the type or amount of information involved, the nature or volume of our business, and other legal thresholds.

Canadian laws that may apply include the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where relevant, Nova Scotia’s Personal Information International Disclosure Protection Act (PIIDPA). Other laws may apply only when their specific conditions are met, including the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and U.S. state privacy laws. Mentioning a law does not mean that it applies to every visitor or interaction. We will comply with any law that applies to us and provides additional rights or protections.

1. Roles and Responsibilities

Meadows and Wings Publishing decides why and how it collects and uses personal information submitted through our website. For that processing, we are the controller or business responsible for the processing, where those legal terms apply.

Wix operates the website platform and provides hosting, security, form processing, and related infrastructure. When Wix processes information for us and follows our documented instructions, Wix acts as our processor or service provider. Wix may also process information independently for its own purposes. In that case, Wix acts as a separate controller or business and is responsible for its own processing.

Requests about information we collect or use for our own purposes should be sent to us. If a request concerns information Wix processes for us, we will coordinate with Wix as appropriate. If it concerns information Wix processes independently, contact Wix through the channels in the "Wix Privacy Policy" (https://www.wix.com/about/privacy).

2. Information We Collect and How We Use It

When you use our website’s contact form, Meadows and Wings Publishing may collect:

- Your name
- Your email address
- The contents of your message
- Any other information you choose to provide

We use this information to:

- Respond to questions and inquiries
- Provide information about our books and publishing activities
- Communicate with people who contact us
- Prevent spam, fraud, misuse, and security incidents
- Maintain appropriate business and legal records
- Comply with legal obligations that apply to us

Wix processes contact-form information for us to host the form, transmit and store submissions, provide security, and support related website functions. Wix may also automatically collect technical and usage information, such as:

- IP address
- Browser, device, and operating-system details
- Approximate location based on IP address
- Referring website
- Pages viewed
- Visit dates and times
- Website interactions
- Form metadata, including submission time and the page where the form was submitted
- Technical information used to prevent spam, abuse, or security incidents

Wix may process contact-form and related technical information for us as needed to provide hosting, form processing, security, storage, and related services. Wix may also process technical, usage, security, cookie, analytics, and service-operation information independently for purposes such as operating, securing, maintaining, or improving Wix services and complying with legal obligations. We do not use IP addresses or form metadata to identify you personally unless reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or responding to a specific incident.

We do not currently offer a newsletter or email subscription service. We do not sell your personal information or use contact-form submissions to send unsolicited marketing emails.

Where a law that applies to the relevant processing requires a legal basis, possible bases may include responding to your request, taking steps at your request before entering into a relationship, complying with a legal obligation, pursuing our legitimate interests, or obtaining your consent.

3. Wix Hosting, Cookies, and Service Providers

Our website is created and hosted using Wix.com Ltd. Wix provides hosting, content delivery, security, analytics, form processing, and related infrastructure.

Wix, its subprocessors, and other service providers may use cookies, pixels, local storage, and similar technologies for website functionality, security, performance, analytics, and other enabled services. These may include necessary cookies, security or anti-spam cookies, preference cookies, and, where enabled and permitted by applicable law, analytics or performance cookies.

When you visit our website or submit a form, technical information such as browser details, device information, IP address, approximate location, website activity, and form metadata may be collected automatically. If analytics or similar tools are enabled, they may collect information about visits, traffic sources, pages viewed, and interactions.

Wix may use affiliated companies and third-party providers to provide its services. These may include hosting, content delivery, cloud storage, database, security, fraud prevention, customer support, analytics, communications, and infrastructure providers. They act as Wix’s subprocessors or service providers when Wix processes information for us. The providers used may depend on the Wix features enabled on our website. Wix identifies relevant providers in its "Subprocessors List" (https://www.wix.com/about/privacy/subprocessors), which may include Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Cloudflare, Akamai, Twilio, SendGrid, and others. We do not independently select or control every provider Wix uses, and not every provider on Wix’s list necessarily processes information submitted through our website.

Wix may process information for us or independently for its own purposes, including operating, securing, maintaining, and improving its services. We are not responsible for Wix’s independent processing.

You can manage cookies through your browser settings. If a law that applies to the website or your location requires additional choices, the website may provide them. Visitors in jurisdictions that require consent for non-essential cookies may decline or withdraw consent through the available controls. Disabling some cookies may affect website functionality.

We do not currently use a separate third-party advertising network or sell visitor information for targeted advertising.

For more information, see Wix’s "Privacy Policy" (https://www.wix.com/about/privacy), "Cookie Policy" (https://www.wix.com/about/cookie-policy), "Cookie Consent Manager information" (https://support.wix.com/en/article/cookie-consent-manager-overview), and "Subprocessors List" (https://www.wix.com/about/privacy/subprocessors). Wix’s information may describe technologies used generally by Wix; the technologies used on our website depend on the features, applications, integrations, and settings enabled from time to time.

4. Third-Party Websites

Our website may link to third-party websites, including Amazon, where our books may be available for purchase.

When you follow a link, you leave our website and become subject to the third party’s privacy practices. Amazon and other third parties may collect purchase, payment, account, device, and usage information directly from you under their own policies. We do not control or take responsibility for their processing.

We encourage you to review the privacy policy of each external website you visit.

5. Security, Storage, and International Transfers

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information submitted through our website. No electronic transmission or storage method can be guaranteed completely secure.

Information may be processed and stored by Wix for us and by Wix’s subprocessors or other service providers that help operate the website. These providers may support hosting, website security, spam prevention, analytics, email delivery, technical support, and data backup. Wix selects and manages its subprocessors for processing it performs for us. Relevant providers may be identified in Wix’s "Subprocessors List" (https://www.wix.com/about/privacy/subprocessors). The list and the providers used may change.

Wix and other providers may also process information independently for their own purposes. Each provider is responsible for its own independent processing, systems, security practices, personnel, subprocessors, and legal obligations. We do not control the exact scope, location, or retention period of that independent processing.

Depending on the services and infrastructure used, information may be stored or accessed in Canada, the United States, the European Economic Area, Israel, or other countries where Wix or its providers operate. We do not control the exact location of every server used.

For visitors in Canada, personal information may be transferred to and processed in other countries. It may then be subject to those countries’ laws and accessible to courts, law enforcement, or national security authorities. When engaging service providers, we use reasonable contractual, organizational, and technical measures appropriate to the circumstances and to laws that apply.

For visitors in the European Economic Area or another jurisdiction with cross-border transfer requirements, we will use a legally recognized safeguard when a law that applies to the relevant transfer requires one. Safeguards may include an adequacy decision, the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, or another lawful mechanism. Wix may describe safeguards for its independent processing and its subprocessors in its "Privacy Policy" (https://www.wix.com/about/privacy), "Data Processing Addendum" (https://www.wix.com/about/privacy/dpa), and "Subprocessors List" (https://www.wix.com/about/privacy/subprocessors). Where required, we will provide additional information about the applicable safeguard or transfer assessment.

6. Retention

We retain contact-form information only as long as reasonably necessary to respond to inquiries, maintain appropriate business records, or meet legal obligations that apply to us.

We may retain IP addresses, form metadata, and security logs for a limited period to prevent spam, investigate security incidents, troubleshoot the website, enforce our terms, or comply with applicable law.

Wix retains information it processes for us according to our instructions, contractual requirements, security needs, and applicable law. Wix and other providers retain information they process independently according to their own policies, legal obligations, and security requirements. We do not control retention periods for independent processing.

7. Privacy Choices and Requests

You may contact us about privacy rights that apply to you and to processing for which we are responsible. Email info@meadowsandwings.ca or write to the address in Section 11. Identify your jurisdiction, describe the right you are exercising, identify the relevant account, form submission, or interaction, and state your preferred response method.

We may request information reasonably necessary to verify your identity. You do not need to create an account to submit a request. We will not use verification information for unrelated purposes except as permitted by law.

We will acknowledge and respond within the period required by a law that applies to the request. If that law permits an extension and we need one, we will explain why. If we deny a request, we will explain the basis and, where required, describe how to appeal or complain. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right that applies to you. Authorized agents may submit requests where permitted by applicable law; we may require proof of authorization and verify the identities of both the agent and the individual.

Canada

Canadian privacy laws may apply depending on our activities, the information involved, and applicable federal or provincial requirements. These may include PIPEDA and, where relevant, PIIDPA. The specific law and rights available depend on the circumstances.

Where applicable, you may request access to personal information we hold about you and correction of inaccurate or incomplete information. You may also ask about our collection, use, disclosure, retention, or safeguards, withdraw consent where permitted, or make a complaint.

To make a Canadian request about processing for which we are responsible, contact our Privacy Officer using Section 11. We may request reasonable identification and details sufficient to locate the records. We generally respond within the time required by the applicable law, subject to permitted extensions and exceptions.

We may refuse access where a legal exception applies, including where disclosure would reveal another person’s information or confidential commercial information. Where permitted, we will explain the reason.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada:

Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada
30 Victoria Street
Gatineau, Quebec K1A 1H3
Canada
Telephone: 1-800-282-1376
Website: "priv.gc.ca" (https://www.priv.gc.ca/en/)
Online complaint information: "priv.gc.ca/en/report-a-concern" (https://www.priv.gc.ca/en/report-a-concern/)

Depending on the subject matter and your province, you may also contact the applicable provincial privacy regulator. For Nova Scotia, the Review Officer under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act may be relevant for public-sector matters, while PIPEDA or another applicable law may govern this private-sector website. Confirm the appropriate regulator for your circumstances.

European Economic Area

This section applies only if you are in the European Economic Area and the GDPR applies to Meadows and Wings Publishing or to processing for which we are responsible.

Where the GDPR applies, you may request access to, correction, erasure, restriction of processing, or portability of your personal data. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests, including profiling, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal. You may also object to direct marketing at any time.

Contact us using Section 11 and identify your request as one made under the GDPR. We generally respond without undue delay and within one month. The period may be extended by up to two additional months for complex or numerous requests; we will notify you if an extension is used. We may charge a reasonable fee or refuse a manifestly unfounded or excessive request where the GDPR permits.

You may complain to the data protection supervisory authority in the EEA country where you live, work, or believe an infringement occurred. A list of EEA supervisory authorities is available from the European Data Protection Board:

European Data Protection Board
Rue Wiertz 60
1047 Brussels
Belgium
Website: "edpb.europa.eu/about-edpb/about-edpb/members_en" (https://www.edpb.europa.eu/about-edpb/about-edpb/members_en)

You may also contact the supervisory authority in the jurisdiction where our relevant establishment is located, if applicable. The appropriate authority depends on the facts of the processing and your location.

United States

U.S. state privacy laws apply only if the relevant law covers our business and processing and its thresholds and other conditions are met. Depending on your location and those requirements, this may include the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), and laws in states such as Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia. The applicable states, thresholds, exemptions, and rights may change. Listing a law or state does not mean that it currently applies to us.

Where a state law applies, you may have rights to confirm whether we process your personal information; access or obtain a copy; correct inaccuracies; delete information; obtain portability; opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or certain profiling; limit the use of sensitive personal information; and appeal a denied request. The specific rights and exceptions depend on the law that applies.

We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising as described in this policy. We do not knowingly process sensitive personal information for purposes requiring a limitation request, but you may contact us if you believe a state-law right applies.

To submit a U.S. state privacy request or appeal about processing for which we are responsible, email info@meadowsandwings.ca or write to the address in Section 11. Include your state of residence, the right requested, and enough information to locate the relevant records. We will verify requests using information reasonably necessary for security and fraud prevention.

We generally respond within the period required by the applicable state law, including any permitted extension. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision or emailing us with “Privacy Appeal” in the subject line. We will review the appeal and respond within the period required by applicable law.

California residents may also contact the California Privacy Protection Agency or the California Attorney General if the CCPA/CPRA applies to the relevant business and processing:

California Privacy Protection Agency
Website: "cppa.ca.gov" (https://cppa.ca.gov/)
Consumer privacy information: "cppa.ca.gov/faq" (https://cppa.ca.gov/faq/)

California Attorney General
Website: "oag.ca.gov/privacy/ccpa" (https://oag.ca.gov/privacy/ccpa)

Residents of other states may contact their state attorney general or the state privacy regulator identified in the applicable law. Because regulator names, procedures, and contact details may change, use the official website of your state attorney general or privacy regulator.

Depending on your location and the law that applies, you may also have rights to restrict or object to certain processing, withdraw consent where consent is the legal basis, request portability, or lodge a complaint with a privacy or data protection authority.

Visitors in Canada may have rights under applicable federal or provincial privacy laws, including access to and correction of personal information, subject to legal exceptions. Visitors elsewhere may have additional rights only if the relevant local law applies to us or to the processing at issue. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

8. Children’s Privacy

Our website features books and creative activities that may appeal to children and families.

Our contact form is intended for adults, including parents, guardians, and educators. We do not knowingly solicit personal information directly from children.

If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact us. If the information was submitted through Wix, we may work with Wix as appropriate to address the request under a law that applies. If Wix processed the information independently, Wix may be responsible under its own privacy practices.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our website, services, or legal requirements change.

We will post updates on this page with a revised date.
